Foundation Center Collection
The Foundation Center Funding Information Network and collection, located on the 2nd floor of the New Mexico State Library, is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment. Call 505-476-9702 or Ask-a Librarian.
The Foundation Center Funding Information Network and collection concentrates on grant funding from private foundations for non-profit organizations. The Foundation Directory Online, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, and Philanthropy In/Sight databases are available for use in the State Library. Corresponding print Foundation Center directories are augmented with local publications when available, as well as information on corporate giving, nonprofit management, fund-raising techniques and proposal writing. Information is also available on Federal and State grants. Much of this is a reference collection, but there are circulating copies of some popular materials.
You may need to spend considerable time at the State Library with the Foundation Center Funding Information Network resources researching which foundations might be interested in funding your type of project. The reference staff can help you get started with your research. State Library staff can also provide answers to simple funding questions received by phone or e-mail. Call 505-476-9702 or Ask-a Librarian.
Your local library may also have the basic tools to use in seeking grants or you can borrow grant seeking materials through Interlibrary Loan from other libraries. In most cases the newest, and therefore most useful, materials will be available for use in libraries only.
