The New Mexico State Library collections include New Mexico history and culture, federal and state documents
State government employees and members of the public can visit the State Library and use the library’s resources. The Second Floor reference desk is open from 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Beginning Dec.1, 2014, the Southwest Collection's Research Room (Ground Floor) is open only from noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, due to a staffing shortage. The Southwest Room will resume its regular hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) as soon as possible.
Assistance in locating materials and using both paper and online resources can be obtained by calling or emailing NMSL reference services.
Check for holdings in the State Library’s online catalog. Many of the library’s holdings are not included in the online catalog. If you cannot find what you are looking for, contact a reference librarian by using the Ask-a-Librarian web form, or call 505-476-9702.
