Public libraries submit an annual report to the New Mexico State Library reflecting financial, service, and acquisitions data based on the state fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). The data is collected in compliance with the New Mexico Administrative Code 4.5.2 which requires public & tribal libraries to submit annual reports in order to participate in State Grants-In-Aid and other programs administered by the State Library.
NMSL participates in the national Public Library Survey Data operated by the Insitutute of Museum and Library Services and collected by the U.S. Cenus. More information about this program can be found on the IMLS website. The data is used by local, state and federal agencies for planning, evaluating and budgeting.
The following tables are a summary of public library statistics collected by the New Mexico State Library saved in Microsoft Excel 2003 format.
Accuracy – The data in the tables reflects what the libraries reported to the State Library and in some cases includes revised information provided by the library or their administrative support.
