Shipment for September

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries

September 18, 2009

Greetings depositories!

Remember the Annual State Documents Meeting is scheduled for Friday November 6th!

Please register online from the State Library’s main page (www.nmstatelibrary.org )- scroll under Upcoming Events or go directly to http://www.nmstatelibrary.org/index.php?option=com_events&task=view_detail&agid=109&year=2009&month=11&day=06&Itemid=1

34&catids=62 .

The publication New Mexico Business Current Economic Report has made some changes.  About a year ago they went from paper to electronic, and now there are restrictions to access of this document and we are unable to link the PDF version to our catalog as we normally do with other electronic documents.  Until we find a way to give the depository libraries limited access to the digital versions of this document, you will not be seeing this document in your shipments.

The State Public Lands Annual Report is worth a look!  Other then being packed with great pictures there is information about different educational programs, environmental programs, oil and renewable energy and information on various New Mexico schools.

Interested in natural resources?  Check out Water, Natural Resources, and the Urban Landscape; the Albuquerque Region from the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources.  This is a great document which includes a historical look at urban land use.

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries
August 5, 2009

Greetings Depositories!

In an effort to get more document out to you libraries we are sending out another special shipment- this time the majority of the box contains the session laws and a few pamphlets from the commission on the status of women.

We also want to make sure everyone knows that the annual state depositories meeting is set for November 6th. If you will not be able to attend in person we will try something different this time and include a webinar through OPAL. This will again be a full day event and more information will be sent out as the meeting schedule is ironed out.

June shipment

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries
June 29, 2009

Greeting Depositories!

Summer is here and so is another shipment!

One document you will see is the New Mexico State Traffic Monitoring Standards 2008. If you think this document looks a bit skinnier you are not wrong. This document has shed about 2/3 of it size which had included mostly pages of code. The coded section was dropped since most people did not have the tools to read the columns of numbers.

Items to look for in this shipment include Good Food, Good Health, created by a number of state agencies. This publication includes information on general well-being, diabetes, exercise, symptoms of a heart attack, what to eat, a great deal on what not to eat, herbal remedies, obesity, stress and recipes.

Another interesting document is the NM Teen Resource Directory. This is a reference document form the NM Commission on the Status of Women. It includes resources for help with body image, education, health, substance abuse and has a listing of websites focused on helping teens.

In this shipment we also have the 2007 Constitution of the State of New Mexico. It took a while to get this one, the next will most likely be out in 2010. There were a number of constitutional amendments last year, some legislative work and a possible special session this fall. We will try to get the next one when it is still warm from the press.

Limited shipment sent out

Memo to State Publication Program Libraries
May 2009

Greetings Depositories!

This is a special LC-5 shipment. We had so many limited copies building up that it was decided to go ahead and send some of them out. You will find all of the Executive Orders for 2007 (which have also been digitally preserved and available at the NMSL website). Another very large set of serial documents included in this shipment are the Order of the Divisions. We will continue to include these documents in future shipments.

In this shipment there are some great history and nature related documents. We are catching up on the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science bulletins. These documents have lots of great scientific information about fossil digs and what was found. Bulletin 41 has a history of the global Triassic period and has some great fossil images.

We also have documents from the Office of Archaeological Studies which look at shells, sandals, beads, tools, gall stones and other artifacts from prehistoric sites. Not even the archaeologists are completely sure about the purpose of the gall stones. We hope to get more of these bulletins soon.

The Natural Resources Journal is also in this shipment. There are interesting articles on conservation and how countries can support the import of environmentally better products while avoiding environmentally damaging products. Think of importing only dolphin-safe tuna and not any of the un-dolphin safe tuna.
